Meet Our Staff
Dentist
Fun Fact: Dr. Callstrom is a self-taught home improvement specialist, and there are few problems he can’t fix! (In other words, he’s our resident MacGyver)
Dental Therapists
Rachel joined our team in March of 2021! Raised on a cattle ranch in the big sky state, Rachel received her undergraduate education from Montana State University (Go Bobcats!). After working in dental administration, she felt a calling to be a care provider herself and enrolled at the University of Minnesota. There, she earned her Bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene in 2020 and Master’s in Dental Therapy in 2021. She also earned her Advanced Dental Therapist license in 2022. At Compass Dental she provides preventative and restorative care for many of our patients.
Fun Fact: Rachel’s senior prom was held in the Dutton Ranch House which is featured in the hit TV series “Yellowstone”!
Claire
Claire joined us at Compass Dental in January of 2023! Originally from Iowa, she received her undergraduate education from Iowa State University before moving north for graduate school. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene and a Master’s in Dental Therapy. For the next two years, she worked in Maine, providing care to underserved communities in the Bangor area. Claire eventually returned to Minnesota, earning her Advanced Dental Therapist License in 2023, and providing preventative and restorative care for our patients.
Fun Fact: Claire has an artistic ability that rivals the greats AND she was the first Dental Therapist to practice in the state of Maine!
Dental Hygienists
Nicole was Compass Dental’s first hygienist! She joined the team back in 2000 when there were only four employees and she has performed thousands of cleanings since then. She grew up in Goodhue and received her education in Dental Hygiene at Minnesota State University at Mankato. After school she returned to Goodhue where she continues to live on her family’s property to this day, making her the third generation resident of the family farmhouse. After more than 20 years in our office, Nicole continues to give her patients and coworkers a laugh each and every day!
Fun Fact: Nicole remembers everyone she meets and everything about them. Yes, we mean everything!
Dental Assistants
Jenna
A Cannon Falls local, Jenna became a licensed dental assistant (LDA) through Dakota County Technical College in 2017 and immediately joined the Compass Dental team. Before settling on a career as a dental assistant, she worked in a variety of other jobs and holds the credentials of a certified nursing assistant (CNA), an early childhood educator, and a cosmetologist! Over her years in our office, Jenna has assisted Dr. Callstrom and our other providers on the full spectrum of dental procedures. She also manages the office inventory and occasionally cleans children’s teeth, all while wearing her signature Crocs!
Fun Fact: Jenna is obsessed with pitbulls, the dogs and the rapper!
Winona
Winona grew up here in Cannon Falls, graduating from the local high school in 2017 and earning her credentials as a Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) from Dakota County Technical College in 2022. She first worked as an intern at Compass Dental as a part of her DCTC education and she came on as a full time team member after receiving her license. Winona is a chairside assistant for Claire, but she also helps out with taking x-rays and turning over rooms. She even cleans children’s teeth a couple of days each week. Winona is calm and capable, helping to make all appointments stress-free!
Fun Fact: Yes, she is named after the city of Winona!
Laura
Laura joined us as a floating assistant in April of 2024! Laura is a Cannon Falls local who has worked in a variety of career fields throughout her life. She took a break from day jobs for several years to raise her children, but when she began to consider taking up a 9-5 once more, dental assisting came to mind. After a fateful appointment with Nicole, she officially joined the Compass Dental team! Though it was new to her, Laura picked up on the rhythm of our office quickly and has been a huge help to all of our providers. We couldn’t keep this busy schedule going without her eagerness to lend a hand!
Fun Fact: Laura and her friends and family take a trip to Alaska every other year to go fishing!
Hallie
Hallie was raised in Goodhue and graduated from Goodhue High School in 2023. She went on to earn her credentials as a Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) from Dakota County Technical College in 2024, and she joined our team in August of the same year. Hallie currently shares the role of chairside assistant for Dr. Callstrom and Rachel with Jenna, and she helps out the other assistants and providers however she can in her moments of free time. Hallie is a quick learner as well as a hard worker, and we are lucky to have her on our staff at Compass Dental!
Fun Fact: Hallie built her own van to compete in autocross events!
Administrators
A life-long member of the Cannon Falls community, Kelly has been a part of our team since February of 2003. She started in a receptionist position and over time her role has evolved. She now serves as head administrator of our office and manages many administrative tasks with ease. In the mornings, she may be one of the first smiling faces you’ll see when you come in for your appointment, and in the afternoons she devotes her time to all things regarding insurance and account billing. If you have any questions regarding your insurance, account balance, or other financial needs, Kelly is your gal!
Fun Fact: Kelly and her family live on a hobby farm, sharing the space with cows, goats, chickens, rabbits, a donkey, and their dog, Izzy!
Lori
Lori was one of the first to join the Compass Dental team back in May of 2000. An Iowa native, Lori started working in the dental field as an assistant a few years after graduating high school. She has worn many hats over her 20+ years here including acting as a floating assistant as well as a chairside assistant for Dr. Callstrom. These days, you’ll see her at the front desk checking in patients, scheduling appointments, answering the phone, and performing many administrative tasks. Lori is always ready to welcome you to our office and start your visit off right! When she isn’t in the office, you can find her at her cabin in Harpers Ferry, IA.
Fun Fact: Lori has a monthly poker night with the girls and LOVES the Iowa Hawkeyes!
MaryKay grew up in the mountains of Montana near Glacier National Park before moving to Minnesota in 2002. In the land of 10,000 lakes, she met her husband and raised her two daughters, eventually settling in Cannon Falls. Though she had always been interested in the dental field, she didn’t take the plunge until she had the opportunity to join our team in October of 2020. Previously a chairside assistant for our providers, MaryKay has taken on an administrative role as of 2025. You can find her at the front desk talking calls and making appointments while also acting as our treatment coordinator. Mary Kay comes in every day with a smile on her face, ready to welcome patients warmly and help in any way she can!
Allison
Allison grew up in the Cannon Falls area but attended high school at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis. She worked at Compass Dental for a year in 2020 while she attended college classes online, then she moved out west and received her undergraduate education in psychology from the University of Puget Sound near Seattle, Washington. After graduation, she moved home to Minnesota and is working as a part-time assistant/administrator while she attends classes to earn her Master’s degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling.
Fun Fact: Allison spent the last semester of her undergraduate education traveling to six different countries across Asia!
Manager
Tamara has supported Compass Dental in every way that she can since the very beginning. Over the years, processing payroll and bills on the weekends has turned into a full time management position. Through lots of paperwork and many phone calls, she keeps our office running. When she’s not in the back office, she can be seen helping at the front desk, turning over rooms, sterilizing instruments, or assisting on dental procedures. Tamara can be counted on to solve any problem that comes up for our employees and patients.
Fun Fact: Tamara has many years of experience breeding and training Rocky Mountain Horses, one of few “gaited” breeds worldwide!
