Infection Control

Infection controls and universal precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control — you, your dentist, and the dental team.  Preventing the spread of disease is a top priority.

Dr. Callstrom and our entire team diligently follow procedures recommended by the ADA and several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

These measures include:

  • Disinfectant hand soap
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Gloves
  • Face masks
  • Face Shields
  • Chemical disinfection of some equipment, counter tops, and other surfaces
  • Sterilization of all equipment and instruments before every use
  • Disposable materials are used when needed

We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure.  This equipment is monitored daily and tested weekly for effectiveness.

The best defense against disease transmission is vigilant prevention procedures and information.
